Sunday afternoon we drove to Dothan to get Ivy's pic with Santa. She was really scared (cant really tell from the pic). I promised her a Merry-okee which is a microphone that makes you talk like an elf. She loves it. And she did great with Santa. I think she is looking too growny, but again I can't stop time.

Ivy picked out a poster from the book fair at school a while back. It was a cute yorkie puppy with a pink bow. She has been raving about getting one. We decided to get her one for Christmas. Our friends the Centners got a yorkie poo and named him Samson. We figured what better name than Delilah. I brought Delilah home and wrapped her in a box. Here are some pics of Ivy opening the box. She was sooo excited. On the sad side, Ivy's allergic to her sweet new pup. I'm having to teach Ivy to not let Delilah lick her. The first couple of days Ivy had reactions to her, but I think she's learned how to handle Delilah. She's a sweet loving puppy. On a negative note.... this mama is tired from having to wake up through the night to take her out. Making me second guess the whole baby thing.

These are a few of Ivy posing the morning of Thanksgiving. We got up early so I could prepare what I was bringing and then off to Nana's. Later, we visited and ate again with Scott's Grandma Rogers' and her sister's families.

During the prayer of the service the one thing I asked God was for him to give me strength to be a better parent on informing my child about him...............Later that night when Ivy was supposed to be sleeping I hear her crying in her bedroom. I go to check on her. She tells me how she doesn't want to die. First, she tells me about how she doesn't want to be old cause her hair will grow shorter and turn grey and her teeth would be yellow. She said she would miss her toys and her friends. This was a little funny. Then she began talking about going to heaven and she wanted to be there with all her friends and how she wanted me and her daddy to be there with her. I found this as the key moment where God was doing his work. This was an excellent opportunity for me to share with Ivy about God. We talked about following a Christian path and doing the right things. I definitely feel this was a prayer answered. I enjoying sharing with Ivy what was instilled to me as a young girl. She and I cried together. What a blessing Ivy is to me.

Scott had a conference he was going to in Orlando. I couldn't help myself but to jump on board and go with him. We had the best time on this trip. We were in the parks for 5 days so we were able to do so much more. While Scott was working Ivy and I were searching for the big rides. The faster, higher, and wetter you got the more Ivy liked it. She has nothing to do with seeing those characters except we did venture into Story Book Princesses where she had no choice but to get her pics taken with them. But the ones around the park she says those lines are too long and she wants to use her time riding the rides. So, that's what we did. Her favorites are Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Expedition Everest, Rapid River and Soaring. Reason being we're wearing the same attire.... well, it was hot and the clothes I brought were too warm. I had to wash clothes for us to wear again. Lots of pics are in this post, but I really felt like I didn't take many at all. Some are from my cell as I didn't carry around my big camera the whole trip. One great thing about this trip was the lines were so short. We were on and off and back on very quickly.

This is Ivy in our hotel elevator. She thought it was soooo cool that you could see out and that our room was the top floor (14th).

Splash Mountain still continues to be Ivy's favorite ride of all. I think we rode this think about 10 times.

When we were waiting in line for It's tough to be a bug, I heard this familiar tune. I realized it was Ivy singing "lookie lookie lookie, here comes cookie.....cook's pest control. I thought this was sooo funny and perfect timing too.

We loved this ride. Ivy especially. As I was scared she would some how fly out I had to keep my hand on her. She on the other hand had no fear and was yelling ''Oh Yeah" the whole ride. We rode it 3 times back to back for 2 days in a row.

I know this is a gross picture, but Ivy thought it was the absolute funniest thing.

This is a pic of Ivy before we went into Haunted Mansion. She loved this ride. Her favorite part was at the end where the ghost took off our heads in the mirror.


We returned back to Magic Kingdom for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas. We had a great time. The parade was awesome. It snowed on Main Street and we enjoyed hot cocoa and cookies in 80 degree weather.

The last night we spent at Hollywood Studios. Definitely not a favorite. And no, we didn't ride Tower of Terror. I'm pretty sure Ivy would have loved to, but that's the one ride I said no to. So we just avoided it all together. But she did keep saying she wanted to ride that ride she keeps hearing people screaming. lol

Our first stop was at Mrs. Baldwin's house. As a child I always went trick or treating at her house and she always had a special treat for me. She most definitely didn't forget Ivy. Mrs. Baldwin lost her sweet husband last week. He will be greatly missed. I'm so thankful Mrs. Baldwin was up for our visit. I think very highly of the Baldwins and I hope Ivy gets to learn how special they are.

We kept this from Ivy as we wanted to surprise her on her bday. I had a friend make her a minnie mouse shirt and I wrapped it up along with a letter explaining why we bought the shirt and Disney tickets. As much as Ivy has been asking and saving her pennies for Disney, I thought for sure she would be ecstatic. She was more excited about the shirt and was like oh we're going to Disney. I dont think she quite understood since it wasn't a tangible object. Since then, she's been counting down the days. We've been online searching out what all we plan to do this time since we have several days in the park.

Well, Ivy turned 6. Yes, I can not believe it nor can I stop the clock.... Ivy decided she wanted to have a smurf party this year. All because her momma had one at her one of her bdays as a little girl (I can't remember which one). This was the first time I invited a lot of kiddos to one of her parties. It was a great time. Ivy had a BLAST!!!

I decided I not only wanted to drop off cupcakes, I wanted to visit Ivy on her special day. I got special permission to run over to aes to visit Ivy on her special day. Scott decided he wanted to bring his guitar and sing her happy bday. The kids LOVED it, but Ivy was a little embarrassed. I guess that whole shy thing really kicked in. I myself, thought it was precious. Mrs. Pouncey had a gift for Ivy and so did Tambry, Mrs. P's daughter. Ivy was ecstatic about her gifts. We have actually been searching high and low for Mrs. P's gift and low and behold they had them at Target. I visited with Ivy and her sweet friends for a bit and then headed back to AHS.

They are my closest family I have on my side and any time I get to be with them, I take it.

Ivy broke out of her shell!!! YAY!! As we arrived to practice for the night, Ivy was hanging on for dear life to my arm. Just as I thought, she was going to clam up. Well, thankfully, her friend Katie walked in and all was better. I eased out the door so she wouldn't see me. She did great on their dance and cheered the entire quarter. I was one proud mama.

Emmy came over to play with Ivy as we have tried several times to let the girls play but times always conflict. It was rainy so we had to make the best if indoor activities. The girls painted made brownies ate popcorn and watched Cinderella. They were soo sweet and quiet. Yes, I said quiet. Which meant for a much enjoyable afternoon for the things I wanted to do.

My family walked to the game to save money for parking. Arriving at the game we split ways as Scott is a loyal straughn fan. Ivy immediately saw her friend Madison. I took these girls down to the front to watch the cheerleaders. They found several of their other buddies. Ivy enjoyed her evening. I am very proud of the bulldogs. The score was 37-3!!

Ivy participated in a fundraiser for the cheerleaders. The cheerleaders help the girls one Saturday morning and they are then able to cheer at the Andalusia vs Ashford game during the first half. Labor Day weekend we were supposed to go to the beach, but Tropical Storm Lee rained us out. We luckily were able to find a place to stay the following weekend. My cousins Sharon, Jody and Olivia came over and watched football and ate dinner with us. We hung out at the pool mostly and did go crab hunting at night. Olivia stayed the night with us and she and ivy swam all morning in the pool. On our way back, we dropped Ivy off in Niceville for her friend, Emmy's bday party. The week before school started, Ivy had Belle Spurlin come and stay with her while I had to work. This summer was the first time Ivy had a real babysitter. She loved Belle. Ivy did it!! She successfully made it through her first week of Kindergarten. I was pretty worried as who she'd get as a teacher. Since Ivy is such a unique character I prayed hard for a teacher who would accept her as she is and encourage her abilities. My prayers were answered when we found out Ivy would have Sherry Pouncey. Ivy started off Sunday saying she didn't want to go as she wanted to stay home and watch netflix all day. But on day two, she said Mom, you were right i'm going to LOVE kindergarten.

Madison rode to school with us so they could walk in together.

Day 3 we rode by ourself and thank goodness a teacher I work with was in line ahead of us and Sara Beth waited on Ivy to walk her in. Such a sweet girl.

2nd Houston trip summer 2011

As we returned home for a few days I knew that I would shortly be returning to Houston as my dad was extremely sick. On Wednesday, July 20th, I received a call from my dad's doctor. My dad was unable to receive dialysis that morning as his blood pressure was dropping immensely. The doctor called me to inform me that my dad would only live a few more days if that. At that point in the morning he was still responsive. They asked me if I wanted him to be on a ventilator. I immediately said yes, and that I would be on a plane immediately. I arrived that afternoon to see my father. He was in a coma. I had just talked to him the day before. I was upset to not be able to have a conversation one last time. I talked to him, the nurse said he couldn't hear me, but at one moment his eyes did tear up. I just held his cold hand. We had the preacher come in. The next morning I had to make a VERY hard decision. I asked to remove the ventilator and blood pressure meds. I stayed with my dad until his very last breath. He left so peacefully and I only pray that he is in heaven with my mother now. Being with my dad the week before was sad, but great as we were able to iron out some things that had been going on with us. Although, we weren't soo close he was still my dad. Watching him go has been sooo hard on me. Lately, I go to bed every night thinking about him and how young he and my mother were to leave this world. Although, he isn't here his legacy will continue with his business Ron's Downtown Auto. While at my dad's funeral I had so many costumers tell me how he was the most honest mechanic in Houston.

When we returned from Houston the first trip, Ivy wanted Madison to come over for a sleep over. I took the girls to tennis. They played Mario Sports on the Wii, did a craft and watched movies from the movie store. They had a great time.

While in Houston, we attempted to do some fun things for Ivy so she wouldn't be bored. Visiting the Aquarium was one of them. She enjoyed it and the food was pretty good too!

4th of July weekend - 2011

I went w/ my best friend to her family reunion on July 2. It was held in Enterprise at a subdivision's pool house. We went as Scott and Phillip were singing for her parents 40th anniversary. Ivy enjoyed playing w/ Jenn's nephew Jack. According to her their getting married. But she did say ugh, soo many boys want to be marrying me, not sure who i am going to marry. I informed her she has a long time to figure that out. And she will know which one is the best one day. lol

on July 3rd, Ivy and I drove down to the beach and hung out w/ Scott's mom. We hung out on the beach and ate dinner. The next morning Ivy and I hit up the outlets for some 4th of July sales for school clothes. Got all of that done, except for her first day outfit. We then drove back to Andy to spend time with Scott and see the fireworks.

4th of July - Fireworks show @ Kiwanis Building

We took Ivy to see the fireworks at the Kiwanis building. Her buddy Azland was there. They danced the night away. Thanks to Az's mama I have pics of them as I totally walked out with out my camera.

The evening began with happy meals from McDonalds. Then arts and crafts, then fingernail painting, bathtime w/ lots of bubbles, then regular painting, and the night ended w/ sleeping bags, popcorn and netflix. Lily, bless her heart woke up and wanted her mama. So she didn't make it through the entire night. But we had a great time while she was here.
